My sponsor said something to me that has really got me thinking lately. He told me he hates working for other people and has the hardest time following orders, so he decided to become his own boss. That's exactly what I want to be. I know it can't be easy running your own business, but life is what you make and a chance is like a picture, so I plan on taking it(drake). What does it actually take to build up the courage to start up a business. I plan on finding out. Becoming a designer and owning my own boutique with my classmate Larry Hill may seem like a fantasy to some, but for me it's a reality. I'm not listening to those who say I'm foolish because I'm sure everyone who aspired for something great seemed crazy at first but that still didn't stop them. Anything is possible in this life, and I'm going to test the limits of this statement.
When I worked for Kinkos, I always dreamed of owning my own store. Instead, I was the manager, somebody very replaceable. What I like about teaching is that I'm a trusted professional and I can do my own thing (to a point). I love teaching because basically I can run my classes as if they were my own business!
ReplyDeleteI believe that you and Larry can do it! I am sure there will be plenty of people who say you will be unsuccessful but are they in a place that you want to be? Furthermore, remember success is built on inconvenience and perserverence. BTW if this is your latest blog, you better get your weight up.
ReplyDeleteI know you will be a successful in your future. Sometimes you will have bumps in the road but they are needed to make you better at your craft. I too ventured out to do my own thing before I became a teacher. Self employmnet has its perks.
ReplyDeleteSelf employment is a gift and a curse. You have to be your own motivator when there is no clock to punch.
